New Opie & Dixie YouTube Channel

Opie and Dixie is an organic pet care line that cares about animals and the environment. We have a series of videos on this site and on Youtube giving the backstory of how Opie & Dixie came to be and why we made the choices we did to be organic, cruelty-free, and use eco-friendly packaging. 

 

Being cruelty-free seems like a no-brainer for any company let alone an animal-based brand; however, there are a lot of companies that still test on animals. Corporate giants that own different pet supplies may have their pet products cruelty-free but their other brands still test on animals.  Would you really consider them cruelty-free? I certainly wouldn't. It feels more of a fake tactic to elicit sales from caring consumers.  Opie and Dixie is a small, locally owned business that doesn't serve under the shadow of an umbrella company. We still serve the animals best interest and their owners. We take great pride in the fact that we are truly cruelty-free.

 

Sadly, animal products are not tested and regulated like human products are, so having the organic certification gives you more confidence in your decision to choose Opie & Dixie products. Your dog's skin happens to be their largest organ and if other companies have chemicals that can be toxic to your pet in them you run the risk of hurting or even killing your beloved pet. Opie & Dixie decided that we would take matters into our hands and became certified organic. While we could have just labeled ourselves as natural, we choose to get the organic certification instead because of what has now been labeled as "green-washing", where companies loosely call themselves "natural" when they truly aren't. It's a shameful practice that we separate ourselves from.
