Dietary Supplements

A dietary supplement is a consumed product containing an ingredient, or several, to supplement the diet. The ingredients in these products may include vitamins, minerals, amino acids, herbs or other botanicals, and substances such as enzymes, organ tissues, glandulars and metabolites. Dietary supplements can also be extracts or concentrates, and may be found in many forms such as tablets, capsules, gel capsules, liquids or powders. Dietary supplements are intended to supply nutrients that are missing or not consumed in sufficient quantity in the diet. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and are never to replace a healthful, nutritious and well-rounded diet.
